William Baird was a successful restaurateur who, in 1901, moved with his family from Tennessee to Fort Worth, Texas. In 1908, after his health began to fail, he encouraged his wife Ninnie Baird to start Mrs. Baird’s Bread, a family‑owned bakery that grew into one of Texas’s largest baking facilities.
