Dan is the 3‑year‑old son of Vic and Irma. In 1948, he moved with his family from Chicago to Beaumont, Texas, where his grandfather Vic opened a Zesto frozen custard stand. He later helped his family open Vic & Al's restaurant, which later became Patrizi's Restaurant, and is part of the family legacy that inspired the reopening of Vic & Al's in Austin.
