C. Warner Stamey (born 1911) is the founder of Stamey’s Barbecue, a Lexington‑style pit‑cooked barbecue restaurant established in 1930. He pioneered the use of hardwood hickory coals and a secret barbecue sauce, opened the first Greensboro location in 1953, and was inducted into the American Royal Hall of Fame in 2020 for his contributions to barbecue.
