Reverend James S. McChain was a Presbyterian pastor who served the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church from 1843 to 1869. He led the congregation through the construction of the 1851 sanctuary and the reunification of the church in 1865, and was a “Yankee” preacher from upstate New York.
