About John
Reverend John Pendleton of Caroline County served as the second pastor of Second New Hope Baptist Church after Reverend York Johnson. During his tenure he directed the construction of a brush arbor—a shelter made of vines and branches—followed by a log church and later a framed building, contributing to the early physical development of the congregation.
