About Garret
Garret Deweese Ray was the original purchaser of the hotel in 1867, after which he named it Ray's Hotel. He is the namesake of the historic NuWray Hotel. He was the owner of the NuWray Hotel in 1867, during which he completed the first major addition of the East wing and renamed the establishment Ray’s Hotel, which locals later referred to as “The Old Ray.”
