About O.
O. Bruton Smith is the founder of Sonic Automotive. He began his automotive career building and racing cars in his parents' garage and later selling them from his front yard. He opened the first used‑car dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina, and his leadership led to the creation of Sonic Automotive, now a Fortune 500 company with over 100 dealerships.
