About Simon
Simon Schneitter was a Swiss immigrant who arrived in Midway, Utah in 1864, discovered a geothermal hot spring, and founded Schneitter’s Hot Pot Resort in 1886, which later became Homestead. He led the construction of a hotel around the crater at Homestead, establishing the site as a healing destination in the 1800s, and ran the resort for over 60 years.
