About Rev.
Rev. Luigi Sciocchetti (1878–1961) was an Italian‑born, Vatican Gallery‑trained priest who, after being banished from Italy by Mussolini, immigrated to San José in 1925. He served as pastor of Holy Cross Church for five years and was commissioned in the mid‑1920s to paint the interior murals above the main altar of Five Wounds Portuguese National Church.
