About Walker
Rev. Walker Smith was the first minister and pastor of First Baptist Church of Salem, serving as the church’s inaugural pastor and delivering the first sermons after its founding in 1867. He also provided the property on the corner of White Oak and Calhoun Streets where the church’s early prayer services were held.
