Stephen Kurtzahn was the pastor of Living Word Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC. In 1982 he was asked to visit a small group of confessional Lutherans in the Greater Metro D.C. area, where he helped organize the group that became Gift of God Lutheran Church in December 1983.
