About Dr.
Dr. John W. Burns founded Burns Hospital in 1911, naming it after his father, Columbus Burns, after previously caring for patients at Salome Hospital. He sold the facility in 1934 to the Sisters of Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament of Shriner.
