About Steve
Steve Burgard founded Choices in Recovery in 1994. A Southern California native who grew up in Encinitas, he overcame his own struggles with drug and alcohol use and, with the help of sponsor Dr. Robert McFarlin, opened the program to help others. He was a family man, musician, and fisherman, and passed away in 2014.
