About Iola
Iola Sobeck is the co‑founder of Detroit’s Original Chicken Shack. She opened the first J & J Ice Cream shop with her husband John Sobeck in 1947 and later co‑founded the Chicken Shack franchise, opening the first Chicken Shack in Royal Oak, Michigan, in 1956. She helped launch the family‑owned business that has served customers for over 70 years.
