Rev. Dr. John Lewis Yost served as pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Bristol, Tennessee, from 1917 to 1920. He later served in parishes in North Carolina and Georgia before becoming president of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1945.
