John Barden co‑founded Barden Family Orchard in 1931 with his wife Hazel Dean, planted the orchard’s earliest apple trees, and was passionate about the science of apple‑growing. He later helped replant the orchard with semi‑dwarf apple trees and peaches in the 1980s and remained active in the farm’s operations until his passing in 2023.
